Teltown Olympic site
Teltown derives its name from the Goddess Tailtu, the foster mother of Lugh of the Tuath de Danann. She was forced to clear the forests of Meath but the effort killed her. Her dying wish was that she be commemorated by yearly festival games. These games survived into the Historical Era older than the Olympic games in Greece and have run longer than the Olympics!

The site of Teltown is extensive and is surrounded by many dark myths and energies. The Monuments are sleeping and hard to find and the energies sometimes hostile and unwelcoming. Dare you explore?
Teltown is the Irish Olympic Site (preceding the Greek Olympics....in fact there is some evidence that the Greek Olympics were created based on the Teltown model).
There are a variety of monuments and artifacts relating to burial sites, ritual sites and occupational sites. There is also the strong tradition of the Teltown marriage lasting a year and a day.
Traditionally this is the place where the lords of light (Tuath de Danann) were forced to live underground, this then spawned the notion of leprechauns, a degenerative form of mastery.

Donaghpatrick Church, Teltown, is the site where one of the Pagan High Kings granted land to St. Patrick to establish a Church. As a reward St. Patrick blessed the High King and made his descendants powerful monarchs.

After 1770 the Teltown games were moved to the south side of the Blackwater to a place called Martry/Faughan. This site was also associated with Lughnasadh and in an otherwise flat landscape Faughan Hill stands out as an ancient Lughnasadh site.

Teltown was famous for its Marriages, where a couple could marry for a year and a day. The following year they were free to divorce if they felt the marriage was unsuccessful. Both these ceremonies had their focus at the Knockauns pictured below.

Some of the magic of Teltown continues to this day!
